Tanwar was born on 12 January 1973. She is an Indian actress and TV presenter, best known for her work in the TV soaps Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii and Bade Achhe Lagte Hain.

Sakshi was born in a middle-class family from Alwar, Rajasthan, India. She graduated from Lady Shri Ram College in New Delhi.

In 1990, after she completed her pre-university course, the actress worked as a sales trainee at a five-star hotel.

In college, Tanwar was the secretary and president of the dramatic society.

After graduation, she was preparing for her entrance tests to the administrative services and mass communications. However, she also auditioned for the national broadcaster Doordarshan’s program Albela Sur Mela in 1998. She ended up being chosen as the presenter.

After her TV debut in 1998 with Albela Sur Mela, she gained popularity for her role of Parvati Agarwal in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii.

Between the years 2011 and 2014, Sakshi played Priya Kapoor, opposite Ram Kapoor, in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain.

Then, in December 2012, she made a second appearance on the reality show called Kaun Banega Crorepati.

In the 2016 film Dangal, Sakshi played Daya Kaur. She is the wife of former wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat (played by Aamir Khan), who tries to train his daughters to be world-class wrestlers against all social odds.
